Rocketry - The Nambi Effect Movie Review

A high-flying biopic that turns out to be an arresting watch!

Stories based on underdogs have always been the go-to model when it comes to biopics in India. However, R. Madhavan’s directorial debut in Rocketry is a passionate and emotional tale of a man who was wronged by the country, and how he and his family come into terms with it.

Rocketry narrates the story of Nambi Narayanan, as he narrates it to Suriya onscreen during an interview. The actor starts off by narrating the first part of his career which just like the listeners onscreen feels like a bore, but slowly starts to grab our attention with the events that follow. Madhavan throws in a lot of technical jargons and moments that do not interest us much in the first half, but there are a lot of emotional highs and lows in the film that totally hold us by the neck and make us jammed into the film.

Madhavan has delivered a top-notch performance in the film, and it is really laudable as to how the actor managed both writing and directing along with pulling himself into a position to act so well in the film. The film travels from his younger days to his elderly moments, but there are still so many places where Madhavan’s performance tops and this is something that deserves an award for sure.

Suriya’s cameo is special, and he turns out to be someone who reflects the feelings of the audiences onscreen, doing it in style. Simran’s performance steals away two of the best moments in the film, and there are also other good supporting actors who contribute well.

The technical factors in the film are superbly done, including Sam CS’ superb score which amps up the wow moments very well.

Rocketry is a splendid effort in filmmaking which gets full points thanks to Madhavan’s triple effort that is really good to see. The film is firstly tough to understand but as it goes forward, it pulls in your attention and turns out to be a solid watch.  Rocketry – The Nambi Effect Movie Review by Only Kollywood
