Peranbu may be the first Tamil film to score a China release, says director Ram

Speaking at the audio launch of Peranbu, director Ram said, “We are in talks to release the film in China. If it works out, it may be the first Tamil film to score a China release.”

Indian movies have been receiving a great response in China since the blockbuster success of Aamir Khan’s Dangal. This year, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Hindi Medium have been declared great hits. If Peranbu get a release, it would become the second film from the southern cinema to see the light of day in the Middle Kingdom.

China’s Shanghai International Film Festival had officially selected 6 films from India, this year. Among them, the only South Indian film was “Peranbu”.

Peranbu starring Megastar Mammootty, child artist Thangameenkal Sadhna, Anjali, Anjali Ameer and several others, is written and directed by Ram with music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is produced by PL Thenappan under his production banner Shree Raajalakshmi Films.
