Jeyamohan reveals reason behind Ponniyin Selvan’s drop

It is a well known fact that director Mani Ratnam had initial plans to start working on the feature film version of Ponniyin Selvan. The director had already started working on the script of the film, deriving it from the book of the same name.

Now, writer Jeyamohan has revealed the reason why the film was dropped. On his blog, Jeyamohan wrote that temples in Tamil Nadu did not allow shooting to take place within, due to which the production cost of the film went up to 50 crore alone. Hence, the project was put in cold storage.

Hope remains for the director to pick up this interesting epic once again, with the support of a huge banner.
