Ernakulam Court issues order to stop Drishyam Tamil remake

Ernakulam Court has issued a temporary stay order against the shooting of Drishyam Tamil remake. The court order is followed by a petition filed by Satheesh Paul from Koothamangalam. He claims that Drishyam was made in Malayalam based on his work ‘Oru Mazhaikaalathu‘ and he possesses rights for any remakes/translations under the Copyright Act.

Director Jeethu Joseph was already alleged of lifting the story from the Japanese Novel ‘The Devotion of Suspect X‘  by Keigo Higashino when the film was declared a hit in Malayalam. Apparently, the movie rights of the novel were acquired by popular Bollywood producer Ekta Kapoor long back. But Jeethu Joseph denied these allegations and also clarified that he did not receive any legal notice from Ekta Kapoor yet.

When the Telugu and Kannada remakes for the film could go on smoothly, why should Tamil remake alone has to face this ordeal? Yet another controversy for a Kamal Haasan film.
