Actors should not come into politics only because they are popular: Prakash Raj

Actor Prakash Raj has said that actors should not come into politics only because they are popular. However, a section of media misconstrued that he said actors coming into politics will end up as a disastrous move.

Yesterday, Prakash Raaj took to Twitter to clear the air. “They distort what you say again. This is what I said… Actors should not come into politics only because they are popular. It’s a disaster. They should come with a clear perception of the issues facing the country and win the trust of the people. And we should not vote as FAN s. But as responsible citizens,” he said.

He also posted an open letter to the press club of Bangalore.

An open letter to The press club bangalore. Dear office bearers, I was there because you had invited me for an open interaction with the complete media under on roof. I accepted had an open session of no holds bar interaction with all the press n media. Answered every single question. But later as I am on my journey back I see one of the media journalist distorts what I have said in the presence of the complete media and the distorted statement on actors entering politics has been picked up by all regional and national media…and also on the social network. Where is the trust between us ..when this distorting facts can happen in the full presence of the journalists at their club. What action would you the press club take to correct such bitter unfair act. I hope I will get a fair answer,” [sic] he wrote.
