Tax exemption committee’s discrimination against Udhayanidhi Stalin continues

State government-appointed tax exemption committee’s discrimination against films produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under his banner Red Giant Movies still continues with Gethu, his recent film which hit screens for Pongal. Udhay’s films have always faced the wrath of the committee members who usually state substandard reasons on numerous grounds to reject exemption from the 30% entertainment tax.

Though the committee agreed that Gethu is a clean film on all aspects, they denied exemption citing that the title is not a Tamil word. Udhay took to his Twitter page and posted a screengrab of a Tamil dictionary that substantiated his claim that Gethu is indeed a proper Tamil word. Udhay is now reportedly planning to resort to legal action to prove that Gethu is a Tamil word.
