Tamil cinema strike – Deadlock continues as TFPC-TN theatre owners meeting ends with no result

It has been a rather disappointing time for film producers, theater owners and cinema fans in general as the strike in Tamil cinema has now reached a stale stage with the results not being arrived at. A huge meeting was put up in Chennai yesterday, which ended in no result despite five hours of heated discussions and arguments.

Though points such as the TFPC agreeing to show previews to distributors before negotiating distribution rights and the fact that theater owners agreed to computerize their ticket sales by the 30th of April, there has been no firm decision on who will be paying the VPFs and in what proportion.

An official statement with more clarity is expected in this regard from TFPC’s side.
