Krishnam Producer PN Balaram Interview: “I want the entire world to watch this film”

In an exclusive conversation with Only Kollywood, producer PN Balaram talks about his first production venture Krishnam, a Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam trilingual film which aims for a September release.

“I’m a newbie to this showbiz. Krishnam happened by chance; it is a story that happened in my life last year. It happened to my son. Krishnam has many highlights. Like, the person who experienced the incident is appearing on screen to portray the same. It is the first Malayalam film to be made in Telugu simultaneously. We are releasing the movie online all over the world and it will happen at the same time of theatrical release,” said Balaram.

“For online release, we are using DRM technology, which is the latest technology to prevent piracy. We are using it for the first time in India.”

The movie is currently in the post production stage and slated for September-end release.

“Director Dinesh is a perfectionist”

“When I got this very idea about Krishnam, I wanted a person with good experience to do this movie. I know Dinesh for more than thirty years, though I was not into the film industry. He is a perfectionist and gives utmost importance to every detail,” said Balaram.

Balaram said Krishnam is a very light hearted family drama with a good message. More than seventy percent of the film is shot in the college atmosphere.

“It will be enjoyed by the audience of all age groups. I want the entire world to watch this film. Even I am waiting to catch the film in theatres.”

Krishnam is all set to go to Bollywood soon, hopefully

“I have been running different businesses for more than thirty-five years, so planning is what we believe in. We planned everything meticulously and made sure that there will be no hiccups,” he said.

“This movie has many young talents, after seeing their work I really want to collaborate more with them. My forthcoming project will have fifty percent of new talents. The next project is in the discussion phase. We have been approached by people from Bollywood, so there are chances that Krishnam could be remade in Hindi with a bigger banner,” he added.

Multiple contests on cards for Krishnam

“We are soon going to announce a contest, probably twenty days before the movie’s release. So you can get the gist of the film after we announce the contest,” he said.

The Telugu version has songs sung by SP Balasubramaniam, Kaala Bhairava, and Hemant.

Vijay Yesudas, Vineeth Srinivasan, and Tippu for the Malayalam version and for the Tamil version Karthik, Sathya Prakash and Madhu Balakrishnan.

“The songs have come out so well and I am so confident that they are going to be a great hit,” he said.

“We will soon be announcing a singing contest, where interested ones can replicate the song to win a cash prize and the opportunity to sing in our next film.

Another short film contest is also in the line. The theme is love and the best short film will win a cash prize and the opportunity to work on our next project as an AD.”

Balaram said he’s not making this film to mint money. “But I want all the parents, students and doctors to experience the movie,” concludes Balaram.
