AR Rahman grabs three; Anirudh gets one

The best 20 top-selling albums of 2014 in iTunes are released yesterday and Tamil cinema has occupied four slots in the list. The best-selling album of 2014 is declared as AR Rahman’s I, also thanks to the humongous expectations for the Shankar – AR Rahman combo and film’s mysterious storyline that supercharged the most innovatory soundtrack from the Oscar-wining composer. Kochadaiiyaan and Kaaviya Thalaivan are the other two albums featured in the list. Interestingly, Anirudh Ravichander’s Kaththi album was also one among the list thanks to the soaring expectations from the AR Murugadoss – Vijay combo that catalysed the brilliant, accessible soundtrack from the young composer .

In fact, among the 20 albums featured in the list, AR Rahman has grabbed five slots including two Hindi albums – Highway and Leekar Hum Deewana Dil. Anirudh’s next highly-anticipated album Kakki Satti is gearing up for release this Friday and AR Rahman’s next eagerly awaited album is Mani Ratnam’s Okay Kanmani.
