When we hear the word Santhanam, comedy is what comes to our mind and the actor has once again gone on to be a part of a complete comedy entertainer in A1, which happens to be Johnson’s debut. The film has a fine share of laughs throughout and gives a feel as an enjoyable and harmless watch.

A1 is bent on a situation where a local guy falls for a girl from the Brahmin community. Trying his best not to hurt anybody, the director has penned a lot of scenes with some passable slapstick comics and nice wordplay. There are a few scenes where he misses the bus, but thankfully he doesn’t take the audience into tired grounds. Due to the presence of a good support cast, the film hops along and entertains at a runtime of under two hours.

Santhanam looks great and fits well as the hero who performs comedy with ease. Newcomer Tara Alisha has a good presence and does an adequate job in the role of a Brahmin girl. Watch out for the scenes involving MS Bhaskar and CoCo Kingsley, as they are the best ones in the film.

The cinematography and the cuts are pretty good, giving the film what it needs. Santhosh Narayanan’s music is fair, while there’s not much scope in the BGM department.

Toting up, A1 is a watchable entertainer that has enough laughs in the kitty. Go forward if you’re looking out for a chilled out time pass outing at the cinema.
