Vishal’s Magudam gets August 14 release date; trailer to be unveiled on August 7

The countdown begins for Magudam as Vishal confirms its August 14 release, while the much-awaited trailer will kickstart promotions this Friday.

Actor Vishal has officially locked the release date for his ambitious action entertainer Magudam. The film, which marks his directorial debut, is all set to hit theatres worldwide on August 14, 2026, while the official trailer will be unveiled on August 7, kickstarting the final phase of promotions.

Initially launched with filmmaker Ravi Arasu at the helm, Magudam later witnessed Vishal taking over the director’s chair midway through production. While Ravi Arasu retains the story credit, Vishal has also contributed to the screenplay, making the project one of the most significant milestones of his career.

The teaser, released in June, showcased Magudam as a stylish action entertainer packed with emotional depth, high-octane action and visually rich storytelling. It also hinted at an intense narrative that blends family emotions with revenge and redemption, setting high expectations among fans.

One of the film’s biggest highlights is Vishal’s triple-role performance. The actor recently revealed that each character has been designed with a distinct personality. One plays a corporate professional, another is a ruthless gangster, while the third is an elderly assassin and a passionate Ilaiyaraaja admirer. The three roles are expected to drive the film’s layered narrative and emotional core.

The cast features Anjali and Dushara Vijayan as the female leads, alongside John Vijay, Jayaprakash, Ajay, Vamsi Krishna, Abu Salim, Arjai, VJ Jhansi, Padam Kumar and Sabumon in pivotal roles. GV Prakash Kumar composes the music, while Richard M Nathan and Abinandhan Ramanujam handle cinematography. Editing is by NB Srikanth, with Dhilip Subbarayan choreographing the action sequences.

Produced under the Super Good Films banner as its landmark 99th production venture, Magudam carries added significance as one of Vishal’s most ambitious projects to date. With the trailer arriving on August 7 and the theatrical release slated for August 14, the film is gearing up for what promises to be an action-packed big screen experience.

Suriya’s Vishwanath And Sons, and Nayanthara – Kavin’s ‘Hi’ also slated for August 14th release.
