Vishal, Yuvan and Varu Sarathkumar team up for ‘Chicago’ adaptation

Vishal, Varu Sarathkumar and Yuvan Shankar Raja are joining hands for the Indian adaptation of the superhit Broadway musical Chicago. This is reportedly the first time Yuvan’s working on a stage play. The play is scheduled to be staged in Chennai on October 11 and 12. Jeffrey Vardon, of the Hot Shoe Dance Company will choreograph the show, with the lead cast comprising Casius Leon, Amritha and Aishwarya. While Vishal and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar co-produce the show, the music will be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Since Varu is shooting for Bala’s Thaarai Thappattai, she is not able to be a part of the cast. “Although the genre doesn’t lend itself much to experimentation and adaptation musically, Yuvan has done a brilliant job in orchestrating it and adding his own touch to these original compositions,” says Varu to a daily.
