Vijay requests Narendra Modi to abolish service tax for films

Ahead of his birthday which falls on June 22, Vijay has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to abolish the service tax on film industry. In his letter, Vijay has stated that among many taxes paid by the film industry, service tax is the most burdensome and it has left many established producers and studios leave the business resulting in grave loss of unemployment for workers.

Earlier, even Kamal Haasan has voiced his opinion against the service tax on film industry. He said that FICCI has sent an official letter requesting to withdraw service tax. This 12.36 percent service tax was implemented by the previous government and faced a lot of flak from everyone in the industry. Will Narendra Modi pay heed to the voice of film industry?
