Velaikkaran Movie Preview

After his 2015 blockbuster Thani Oruvan which set a benchmark in Tamil cinema for a commercial film, Mohan Raja returns to his directional ways with Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran, this weekend. The film has got the majority of screens across Tamil Nadu amongst all the releases, and is definitely one of the most anticipated releases of the year, even though it’s coming at the very end.

Raja this time, has seemingly dealt with many important topics – ranging from slum lives, corporate mechanism and advertisement industries. It would be safe to say that this will not only be an intriguing outing in the edutainment sector, but also actor Sivakarthikeyan’s most serious film. The actor, who is mostly known for his comical roles will be taking on a lot more baddies and wrongdoings with vigor here.

Velaikkaran is blessed to have a dream cast, apart from Sivakarthikeyan’s presence. It marks Mollywood actor Fahaad Fazil’s entry into our industry, and also boasts of Lady Superstar’s first pair up with Sivakarthikeyan. Apart from this, there are a host of character artists such as Prakash Raj, Sneha, Sathish, RJ Balaji, YG Mahendran, Rohini, Robo Shankar and more. From what it seems, there surely will be a definite fun factor which will slowly lead into the core of the story.

Cinematography for Velaikkaran is taken over by Ramji, who did a fantastic job in Thani Oruvan. Along with art director Muthuraj’s grand sets, Velaikkaran promises to be a visual treat. The 7-minute slum set video which was put up on YouTube few days ago has created a very good impression on the film’s motto and the hardwork behind it.

Anirudh’s Karuthanvanlaam Galeejaam is easily one of the most foot-tapping tracks we have heard this year, and his melodies Idhayane and Iraiva too have created a ripple. The young composer, as always, is expected to bring out a solid background score in his fifth combo with Sivakarthikeyan.

Without going for a trailer, the team has smartly kept the baseline of the film intact, as it is hard to guess on what exactly will Jayam Raja bend his 3 hours of narrative on. It remains to be seen as to how beautifully Velaikkaran will cater to the kids, the thinking audience and the ones who are longing for entertainment, together. Come Friday (Dec 22nd), we will have a Christmas release that has been worth waiting for. And who knows, it might be just be the perfect biggie in theaters as the year reaches it’s close.
