The legal issue hampering Kochadaiiyaan’s release

Ever since the official announcement on the postponement of Kochadaiiyaan’s release made its way, there have been a myriad number of speculations going around. The grapevine in K’town is abuzz with a lot of rumors. However, the reason given by Eros International was “to cater to the demand for multiple language and the 2D and 3D versions to release the same day.”

It is laughable to believe that a film of such magnitude has been goofed up big-time by the makers in planning the release. Trusted industry sources say that the team is facing a legal hurdle from a bank who reportedly has moved to the court demanding a repayment of approximately Rs. 50 crores before the release of the film. It is also said that there is a tiff between producers and distributors mainly in Coimbatore regarding the price share agreement. Apparently, some distributors appear to be skeptical about the success of the film and have started placing demands for a higher share which is also one of the reasons for the continuing delay.

It is worth recalling that when Baba failed at the box-office, Rajinikanth compensated distributors all over the state for the losses incurred. Let’s just hope the film releases on May 23rd, at least.
