Vathana Vathana Vadivelan
Thaara Thappatai Theme
A Staggering Work Of Class!
Summary : 1000 albums down, and the genius in Ilaiyaraaja shows us why he’s bagged an ocean of respect over the years. Thaarai Thappatai beams with power and grace together, making it one of the better albums in his recent discs. There are melodies for the soul, and energetic, blood-rushing tracks for the adrenaline too. Those kind of songs you will wait for, in the movie
Cast: Bala, Sasikumar, Suresh
Lyrics: Ilaiyaraja, Manikkavasagar, Mohanraja
Label: Think Music
Hero Intro Theme: Instrumental
A very prosaic naayanam bit to inaugurate the album. The tune too, doesn’t bring about a great shake.
Vathana Vathana Vadivelan: Singers – KavithaGopi, Priyadarshini
Superbly orchestrated sing-along track, which has a peculiar rendition pattern with loops and pauses. KavithaGopi and Priyadarshini work well together, leading it to our PICK!
Paaruruvaaya: Singer – Sathya Prakash, Surmukhi
This is the Thiruvaasagam song which was being talked about before the launch. The inviting vocals of Sathya Prakash and Surmukhi synced to the harmless music at the background make this a vibrant listen.
Idarinum: Singer – Sharreth
Ilaiyaraaja infuses grandeur into the Yesudas-like vocals of Sharreth through his excellent instrumentation which grips you on the whole. A poignant song which gets better with the passing beat. This beauty, another PICK!
Aattakaari: Singer – MM. Manasi, Prasanna
One would not have expected to see MM. Manasi’s name in this track-list, but Ilaiyaraaja finds the right note to bring her in, with Prasanna delivering good support. This is undoubtedly the track which will find a liking amidst all music lovers, young and old. Our PICK!
Thaara Thappatai Theme: Instrumental
Unexpected stuff from the maestro to finish things off in a high. Powerful and hard-hitting are words you can associate with this theme, which has engrossing drums all over.
Arrambam Aavudhu: Singers – Ilaiyaraaja, Ananthu
