TFPC row: Vishal released by Chennai police; revenue officials deal T Nagar premises

After being detained under preventive custody for eight hours, Vishal, president of Tamil Film Producers’ Council, was released yesterday evening. He was arrested on Thursday morning after trying to break open the lock of TFPC premises in T Nagar since it was locked down the rival faction headed by AL Azhagappan and T Siva.

Yesterday, revenue officials have sealed down the TFPC office in T Nagar. Vishal and his supporters were spotted inside the Anna Salai office last night discussing the issue. Sources say the rival faction is planning to unite under the leadership of veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja for the fresh elections to the council which is due in April 2019.
