“Telugu is all about hero-worship” says Vikram

Vikram, who is currently gearing up to start director Anand Shankar’s tentatively titled Marma Manidhan, will share screen space with Kajal Aggarwal and Bindhu Madhavi for the first time in the film. Vikram agrees that Tamil audience is always a challenge and makes the directors work harder.

“You can never take Tamil audience for granted. They know what they want. You have to be different, but at the same time, you cannot be totally out of the box. Kerala has budget restraints, so you cannot make huge films. But they have great stories and they are not hero-centric; the genre matters more. Telugu is all about hero-worship. But Tamil cinema is improving and the audience is making directors work harder,” says Vikram.
