Suriya’s Vishwanath & Sons locks Independence Day release
Venky Atluri’s family drama Vishwanath & Sons starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju is set to hit theatres on August 14
The makers of Vishwanath & Sons, starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, have officially locked the film’s new theatrical release date. Directed by Venky Atluri, the much-awaited family drama is now scheduled to release worldwide on August 14, targeting the Independence Day holiday weekend.
The announcement has further increased excitement around the project, especially after the positive response to the teaser released earlier this year. The film marks the first collaboration between Suriya and Venky Atluri, and expectations are already high among fans and trade circles.
Apart from Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, Vishwanath & Sons also features Radhika Sarathkumar, Bhavani Sre, and Raveena Tandon in important roles. Interestingly, the film marks Raveena Tandon’s return to Tamil cinema after more than two decades, with her last Tamil appearance being Aalavandhan in 2001.
Reports suggest that Vishwanath & Sons will revolve around relationships, family emotions, and a unique love story set against a larger family drama backdrop. The film is backed by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, while GV Prakash Kumar is composing the music.
Meanwhile, Suriya is currently enjoying the success of Karuppu, which has been performing strongly at the box office. With Vishwanath & Sons now securing a festive release slot, the film is expected to emerge as one of the major Tamil releases of the second half of 2026.
