Sarkar earns Rs 70 crores worldwide on opening day

Thalapathy Vijay’s Sarkar has collected nearly Rs 70 crores on its opening day worldwide. The movie has earned nearly Rs 48 crores from India alone, beating the day one collection of Bollywood blockbuster Sanju which grossed Rs 44.15 on opening day.

In Kerala, the film has grossed Rs 6.6 crores, beating the previous record of Baahubali: The Conclusion which pulled in Rs 5.5 crores on opening day. The film has also set career-best numbers for Vijay in Karnataka with nearly Rs 6.2 crores.

In Chennai city, the film has hauled in consecutive Rs 2+Cr with Rs 2.37 crore on day one and Rs 2.32 crores on day two, with a combined total of Rs 4.69 crores, which is a record number for any movie in Tamil Nadu.
