Only 4 Tamil films allowed to release/week from January 2015: RK Selvamani

RK Selvamani, the secretary of Tamil Films Directors Association, has announced the press yesterday that only four Tamil films are allowed to release per week from January 2015. While three straight Tamil films are allowed to release, one dubbed film will be allowed to release per week.

Recently, the number of films releasing per week has been on a high and even touched eight films per week. While distributors and theater owners consider this as a harmful practice, some producers are just contented to get a release for their films. So, this announcement should indeed satisfy the serious, thoughtful producers and will disappoint the smaller ones who strive to get their films released in cinemas somehow. However, the feasibility of this newly amended announcement is yet to be tested.
