The new ticket prices announced by the government of Tamil Nadu will be effective from today, October 9th. The new ticket prices in multiplexes, which are divided into three categories, vary from Rs. 150 to Rs. 118.80 to Rs. 106.30.
Meanwhile, the other theatres, which occupy the 90% of screens in Tamil Nadu’s total of 1150 screens, are mainly divided into AC and Non-AC categories. For AC theatres in municipalities, municipal corporations, town panchayats and panchayats, the price varies from Rs. 18.75 to Rs. 62.50. For non-AC theatres in the same regions, the new price varies from Rs. 15 to Rs. 37.50.
An important meeting between the film fraternity and the representatives of the government has been scheduled tomorrow. The theatre owners in tier 2 and tier 3 areas are quite unhappy with the meagre increase in the base price.
