  • Narcolepsy: Narcolepsy is a neurological sleep disorder which makes it difficult for people to stay awake for long periods of time. NSM is the first movie in Tamil cinema that portrays Narcolepsy. However, Narcolepsy as a concept evolved decades back in Hollywood in films like Moulin Rouge, My Own Private Idaho and also in a French film called Narco. Thanks to Director Thiru for introducing this concept to the fans of Tamil cinema and for the novel attempt on screen.
  • Lakshmi Menon: NSM is Lakshmi Menon’s second film on the trot with Vishal. She played Vishal’s love interest in Suseenthiran’s racy action thriller Pandianaadu. “This would be my first film in which the plot is woven around my character. I play an urbanite, but what impressed me was how Thiru developed the character,” she said on NSM in an interview. Lakshmi Menon who has been typecast as a dusky village beauty in Sundarapandian and Kumki gets an image makeover in NSM with Vasuki Basker designing her costumes with new vigor.
  • The lip-lock controversy: The film was on the headlines a week back when Only Kollywood released the exclusive lip-locks shared by Vishal and Lakshmi Menon. There’s also an underwater swimming scene which is said to be exemplary. Director Thiru has said that the underwater sequence would be a standout scene in the film. Later Lakshmi Menon cleared the decks by saying that both lip-lock and the underwater scene are an integral part of the story and cannot be left behind.
  • Music: This is the first time Director Thiru has joined hands with GV Prakash Kumar. The songs are already topping the charts on all radio stations. Yelelo and Idhayam Unnai Theduthe seem to be everyone’s favorite.
