Amaran - In Cinemas Now

“Mysskin is pressurizing me to act,” reveals Vetrimaaran

In an interesting conversation with director Bharatbala of Mariyaan fame at the ongoing 46th International Film Festival of India in Goa, film-maker Vetrimaaran answered a question on whether he would take up acting in the future. “Once I finished my first film, I received two scripts asking me to play the lead role. That’s been happening for a long time. Now, the last one to join the list is Mysskin. He is pressurizing me now,” said Vetrimaaran.

“But I feel being a scriptwriter is like being in a very egoistic state. You play god. You create a character. You kill a character. You make two people fall in love. You do this.. You do that. So, that’s a very spoilt state of mind. Being an actor is like being in a very narcissistic state of mind. Being in an egoistic state of mind is dangerous. Being in a narcissistic state of mind is also dangerous. Being an egoistic narcissist, you will never be able to survive. I have seen many directors who could have been big losing out to become actors. I have seen many actors losing out to write scripts,” added Vetri.
