LGM (Let’s Get Married) Movie Review

RJ Vijay and Yogi Babu offer some comics in this otherwise middling affair. Below goes our LGM (Let's Get Married) Movie Review.

MS Dhoni’s debut film production in LGM hits the screens today, and the film is promoted as a freewheeling family entertainer for all sections of the audiences. Does Dhoni start off his film career with a sixer? Let’s see!

LGM (Let’s Get Married) starts off as a story where a man hangs between his girlfriend and wife, on the road to marriage. As his girlfriend suggests the idea of going on a family trip before the wedding to get along with each other, the idea gets into being and what happens between the girl and the to-be mother-in-law forms the crux of the story. LGM begins with fun and frolic, as there are quite a few good jokes in the first half, which keep the audience laughing. The second half is where the film actually gets stuck in a hole, as there are three episodes – The Goan bar episode, the encounter with the cult and finally the tiger scene, none of these three work out as well as one would expect and the film falls on its nose here. LGM suffers from pacing issues as well along with the lack of good songs, and the only saviours are its two comedy dwellers – RJ Vijay and Yogi Babu.

Harish Kalyan has a stylish presence but the film hardly makes use of it, and he has almost nothing to do here throughout. Ivana does not fit into the role of the elite girl, and looks too young onscreen too. Nadhiya is the saving grace amidst the cast, and she does a good job. The supporting cast has good contributions but none of them have the weight to withhold the film on the whole.

LGM has decent technicalities, but the film could have done even better by opting for a proper music director who would have given it better songs. Music is of utmost importance in such a film, and the fact that LGM falters there is admitable.

On the whole, LGM is a film that could have been better in many ways, and it is one that needed better writing and making to entertain audiences for its 2 hour and 30 minute runtime.

Verdict: Dhoni’s first home production is a laughable ride that could’ve been better!
