A highly emotional Kamal Haasan in Papanasam

Jeethu Joseph, in an interview to a daily to celebrate the Drishyam‘s successful first year anniversary, has said unlike Mohan Lal’s character in the original, he has modelled Kamal Haasan’s character in the Tamil version highly emotional. When asked to compare the legends, Jeethu says, “Obviously, I can’t compare the two. In Drishyam, Lal was underplaying the emotions in his own style, and for Kamal, it’s a bit loud. We have made the Tamil character (Suyambu Lingam) highly emotional.

“Through a friend, I knew Gauthami was looking for a comeback and I sought Kamal sir’s opinion before going ahead. Kamal washed his hands of and said it was up to her to accept or refuse the offer. We were very happy to have her make her comeback through our film,” tells Jeethu Joseph on how Gauthami came onboard to reprise Meena’s role.

Papanasam is currently under post-production and is likely to hit screens after Kamal Haasan’s Uttama Villain sees the light of day.
