Idhayam Murali OTT release date: Netflix announces streaming debut for Atharvaa’s romantic entertainer
The heartfelt romantic drama Idhayam Murali gears up for its digital premiere as Netflix confirms the streaming date following its theatrical success.
After winning appreciation from audiences in theatres, Idhayam Murali is now gearing up for its OTT premiere. The coming-of-age romantic drama, starring Atharvaa in the lead role, is set to begin streaming this week, giving viewers another opportunity to experience the emotional love story from the comfort of their homes.
The makers have confirmed that Idhayam Murali will premiere on Netflix from August 8, 2026. The film will be available to stream in Tamil, along with dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, allowing it to reach a wider audience across India.
Directed by Aakash Baskaran, the film follows the emotional journey of a young man navigating friendship, first love, heartbreak and adulthood. The title pays tribute to Atharvaa’s late father, actor Murali, and his iconic 1991 romantic classic Idhayam. Similar to the classic, the film explores the bittersweet emotions of one-sided love while presenting them through a contemporary coming-of-age narrative.
Apart from Atharvaa, Idhayam Murali features Preity Mukhundhan and Kayadu Lohar in leading roles. The supporting cast includes Natty Subramaniam, Ramki, Rakshan, Niharika NM, Sudhakar and others, while Fahadh Faasil appears in a special extended cameo. The film is produced by Aakash Baskaran under the Dawn Pictures banner.
The technical crew comprises music composer Thaman S, cinematographers Manoj Paramahamsa and CH Sai, and editor Pradeep E. Ragav.
Following its theatrical reception, Idhayam Murali now heads to Netflix, offering fans another chance to relive its heartfelt romance and nostalgic coming-of-age journey.
