Gaana Bala turns hero with Parry’s Corner

Nowadays, an album without a Gaana Bala song is a rarity in Tamil cinema. Almost, every film has at least one song written and sung by the Gaana king. Such is his fame that he debuts as hero in a film titled Parry’s Corner. It will be directed by Selvabharathy, known for his collaboration with Vijay in films like Ninaithen Vanthai and Priyamaanavale. The film is based on the life of rickshaw walas in Chennai and the imminent danger they were in after the proliferation of autos in the city.

“The film is about a set of people in the city, who live on the sideways of the busy Parry’s Corner, without any knowledge of the technological and cultural development of the city,” says the director. How they view life and their day-to-day activities form the film’s story, which is yet to materialize. Selvabharathy also refutes rumors that he will be directing Vijay in MGR’s yesteryear classic Enga Veettu Pillai remake. Other details of the cast and crew for Parry’s Corner are being finalized.
