Viewfinder Film Consulting is celebrating its 1-year anniversary with the announcement of 2 new filmmakers joining its esteemed Advisory Board. Co-writers and Directors Pushkar and Gayatri will be teaming up with company founder Dilani Rabindran to help support the work of emerging filmmakers, as the company continues to represent South Indian cinema in international markets.
Speaking on their decision to join the board, the husband & wife filmmaking duo had this to say: “The audience for Tamil films has been primarily restricted to the region and the Tamil speaking diaspora around the world. We are on the cusp of a change. In cinema, regional is the new global! We believe that Tamil films can reach a wider audience without losing their essence and identity. Viewfinder Film Consulting is a company which is striving to make this happen. We are elated to come on board as Advisors to VFC and join them in their exciting pursuit!”
The creators of 2017’s blockbuster hit “Vikram Vedha” will join existing board members – National Award winning directors M. Manikandan and Bramma, as well as editor Anucharan – to consult on new films represented by the company and provide guidance to Dilani, as she continues to grow the firm over 2018. Looking forward to year 2 Dilani is excited about the fresh perspectives this new addition to the team will bring: “I’m thrilled to have Gayatri ma’am and Pushkar sir join the board! I am a sincere fan of their work, and I know that we share a similar passion to foster strong content, innovation and teamwork in the industry. I truly look forward to their mentorship and a chance to collaborate with them to support quality South Asian films in the international market!”
Viewfinder Film Consulting was first unveiled publicly in December 2016 and has since gone on to secure nearly 50 festival selections for various South Indian films, including popular titles “Sila Samayangalil” directed by Priyadarshan, “Merku Thodarchi Malai” produced by Vijay Sethupathi, the forthcoming “Sigai” and the viral hit “Lakshmi”. The company has also creatively consulted on numerous forthcoming films and scripts and helped to obtain producers for films that are scheduled to begin shooting early next year.
