Creative differences lead to shelving of Aamir Khan – Lokesh Kanagaraj Superhero project
Due to differing creative approaches, Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj have shelved their superhero film, dismissing rumors linking the decision to the Coolie cameo.

Recent reports created a buzz suggesting that Aamir Khan had regretted doing a cameo in Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, allegedly leading to the cancellation of his much-anticipated superhero film with the director. However, reliable sources have now dismissed these claims as entirely false.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the real reason behind the project being shelved lies in creative incompatibility between Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj. A source close to the development revealed that the two parted ways due to fundamental differences in their approach to film making.
“Aamir prefers having the complete screenplay locked well in advance before going on floors, while Lokesh works with a flexible draft and tends to shape the script during the shoot,” the source explained. The insider further added, “Aamir was fully invested in the superhero project, which he believed had the potential to redefine Indian cinema. He wanted Lokesh to commit entirely to the film. However, Lokesh preferred to maintain his working style of evolving the script on set. Since their creative processes didn’t align, they mutually agreed to step back from the project, leaving the door open for future collaboration.”
As of now, the ambitious superhero film has been put on hold due to these creative differences.
Meanwhile, Lokesh Kanagaraj is gearing up to make his acting debut in a film directed by Arun Matheswaran. Following that, he is expected to take the reins on the much-talked-about reunion film featuring legends Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Once those projects are complete, Lokesh is set to finally begin work on Kaithi 2 with Karthi, which was initially intended to be his next directorial venture.
