BJP expresses shock at Rajinikanth’s ‘welcome note’ to Jayalalitha
Rajinikanth’s warm welcome note to Jayalalitha yesterday has created ripples in the state’s BJP unit. In his letter to Jayalalitha,Rajinikanth said, “I’m glad to have you back in Poes Garden. Praying for good times for you. Always wishing you well for good health and peace. Happy Deepavali.” While some view this as Rajinikanth’s fond gesture for his Poes Garden acquaintance, some have expressed shock at the welcome note.
“While we have extended the invitation to him, given the rapport he shared with our national leaders, we always had doubts about him accepting it. The letter (Welcome note) makes it clear to us that we cannot be depending on his entry into the BJP to improve our fortunes in Tamil Nadu,” said a State general secretary,” reports a daily quoting BJP general secretary. But, the BJP State President Tamilisai Soundararajan who earlier met Latha Rajinikanth this month had a different opinion. “We will always welcome him into the BJP. This letter won’t change that feeling,” she said.
Also, the social media is brimming with disparaging remarks on Rajinikanth’s volatility towards politics and opinions that Rajinikanth’s welcome note means just ‘business’ since his upcoming film Lingaa is slated for release in December.
