Anbil Avan pre-release event: Ashok Selvan calls it a chance to reinvent himself

The Anbil Avan pre-release event brought together the film’s cast and crew, along with several special guests, as the team shared their experiences and expectations ahead of the film’s theatrical release on September 25.

Producer Abhinaya Selvam said the team was looking for a special project after Oh My Kadavule when they came across Vignesh Raja’s script. She noted that the film brought together a cast and crew who worked closely to realise the vision, while describing Anbil Avan as a story about the lengths a person can go for someone they love.

Producer Kavya Pandian also spoke about the effort that went into the project, praising the cast and technicians for their work over the past few months. She expressed confidence in the film and urged audiences to support Anbil Avan in theatres.

Actor Gautham Karthik, who attended the Anbil Avan pre-release event as a special guest, praised the film’s presentation, including its title, teaser, trailer, visuals and sound. He also spoke warmly about his friendship with Ashok Selvan, calling him someone he considers a dream friend.

Gautham further highlighted his bond with Harish Kalyan and described the friendship between them as another form of love within the film’s overall theme. He also praised Govind Vasantha’s music and expressed his appreciation for the album.

Music director Govind Vasantha said Anbil Avan was among his recent projects with which he felt particularly connected. He highlighted the sincerity with which the film was made and appreciated Ashok Selvan’s involvement as a producer.

Govind recalled how Ashok travelled to Kochi to discuss a new idea for the climax song, highlighting the actor-producer’s personal involvement in the project. He also expressed confidence in the album and the work contributed by the singers, musicians and engineers.

Writer Vignesh Raja revealed that a small incident from his corporate-film days eventually became the seed for Anbil Avan. According to him, the film centres on a couple who fall in love and get married, only to realise that they have lost sight of the dreams they once shared.

The story follows their attempt to rediscover those dreams, with Vignesh describing the film as a collaborative effort involving the entire cast and crew. He also praised the freedom given by the producers and the contributions of the team in shaping the final product.

Harish Kalyan, who attended the event, spoke about Ashok Selvan exploring a new space as an action hero in Anbil Avan. He particularly mentioned the film’s 70-feet jump and praised Ashok’s willingness to push himself for the role.

Harish also appreciated Preity Mukundan’s work and her script choices, while acknowledging Peter Hein’s contribution to the film’s action sequences. He also praised Govind Vasantha’s music and said he was looking forward to watching the film on the big screen.

Director Ashwath Marimuthu revealed that Preity Mukundan had previously been considered for Dragon before he recommended her for another project, which eventually turned out to be Anbil Avan. He noted the importance of her character and expressed his appreciation for the film after watching its trailer.

Ashwath also spoke about the discipline and commitment he had observed in Ashok Selvan and other members of his filmmaking circle, highlighting their punctuality and dedication on set.

Speaking at the Anbil Avan pre-release event, Ashok Selvan said the film comes after a gap of around two-and-a-half years since his last lead role and described it as an opportunity to reinvent himself. He stressed that he wanted to give his complete effort to any project carrying his name.

Ashok also acknowledged the support he received from his family during the making of the film and credited his longtime friendship with director R Kaarthikeyan for bringing the project together. He praised the contributions of the cast and crew, including Preity Mukundan, Vignesh Raja, Govind Vasantha and action choreographer Peter Hein.

The actor-producer also said he was particular about discovering fresh talent through auditions and expressed confidence in the film’s commercial appeal. He urged audiences to watch Anbil Avan in theatres, promising an entertaining mainstream film with moments designed to offer a theatrical experience.

Backed by Happy High Pictures and Ayngaran, Anbil Avan is scheduled to release in theatres on September 25. The screenplay is credited to Vignesh Raja, R Kaarthikeyan and Ashok Selvan, while R Kaarthikeyan has directed the film.
