“Ajith is one of the most handsome men I’ve ever met”, Thala 55 stylist Uthara Menon

Uthara Menon, sister of Gautham Vasudev Menon, is a former model and now the stylist and costume designer for Ajith’s Thala 55. Gautham approached her for Simbu’s Sattendru Maaruthu Vaanilai, but since the project was postponed, Thala 55 turned out to be her first film in Kollywood. Uthara says she has tried to retain the famous salt-and-pepper look of Ajith with a twist.

“Every one keeps giving Ajith this ‘mass hero’ for the sake of him being a star. But, Ajith doesn’t need all that. He is one of the most handsome men I’ve ever met. I was in awe of him at first and I desperately wanted to see him in simple jeans and T-shirt. His handsomeness takes care of the next,” says Uthara Menon about Ajith’s dashing looks in Thala 55. For Trisha, she says, “I made her go really ethnic and Indian, with some Indo-western outfits too with ethnic fabrics to showcase her beauty.” She also reveals that Gautham Menon gives her full freedom to work on the looks of his actors and gives only minor suggestions.
