Rajinikanth reacts to rumors linking him to political discussions
Rajinikanth clarified that his meeting with M. K. Stalin was personal while appreciating Vijay’s massive political success and public support.

Rajinikanth has dismissed rumors linking him to alleged political discussions between the DMK and AIADMK following the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election results. Addressing the media in Chennai today, the veteran actor clarified that his recent meeting with MK Stalin was purely personal and had no political agenda behind it.
The clarification comes days after Rajinikanth met Stalin at the latter’s residence shortly after the DMK’s electoral setback. The meeting had sparked widespread speculation on social media, with rumors suggesting that Rajinikanth was attempting to facilitate discussions between the DMK and AIADMK to counter the rapid political rise of Chief Minister Vijay and his party TVK.
Reacting strongly to these allegations, Rajinikanth stated that he was not someone who would involve himself in such political manoeuvres. The actor explained that his visit to Stalin was simply out of friendship and emotional support after the election results. He mentioned that he has shared a long friendship with Stalin spanning several decades and felt sad seeing him face defeat in the elections.
Rajinikanth also dismissed claims that he was jealous of Vijay’s political success. Speaking openly about Vijay’s rise, the superstar said he was actually happy to witness such a major political transformation in Tamil Nadu. He further pointed out that there was a significant generation gap between himself and Vijay and added that comparisons between them were unnecessary.
The actor also praised Vijay for achieving massive political success at a young age and acknowledged the strong support he enjoys among youngsters and cinema audiences. Rajinikanth reportedly urged people to give Vijay sufficient time to establish himself politically and advised supporters to behave responsibly as their actions would directly reflect on the Chief Minister’s image.
Rajinikanth’s remarks come amid intense political discussions across Tamil Nadu after TVK’s historic victory in the 2026 Assembly elections. The actor’s clarification appears to have been aimed at putting an end to the growing rumors and speculation surrounding his recent political meetings and statements.
