Kamal Haasan met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Friday and submitted a list of key demands concerning the welfare and growth of the Tamil film industry. The meeting took place shortly after Vijay assumed office as Chief Minister following the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

During the interaction, Kamal Haasan reportedly discussed several pressing issues affecting the cinema industry, including rising production costs, taxation concerns, anti-piracy measures, and the need for stronger government support for theatres and film workers. The actor-politician is said to have handed over a detailed memorandum containing important requests aimed at improving the overall functioning of the industry.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Kamal Haasan praised Vijay’s rise to the Chief Minister’s position and expressed confidence in his leadership. He reportedly stated that Vijay should no longer be viewed merely as a film star, but as a leader carrying the responsibility of governing the state.

The meeting also highlighted the growing involvement of film industry personalities in discussions related to cinema policies and governance in Tamil Nadu. Several industry bodies have recently been urging the new government to introduce reforms that can help theatres recover and support film production more effectively.
