Pookie follows Kailash and Aazhi, a couple in love for six years. Their relationship changes after one argument. When the word “breakup” is spoken, everything begins to fall apart. The film then focuses on what happens next.
First, the story shows how both characters deal with separation. Kailash tries to move on through self-improvement. Aazhi looks for comfort in different ways. However, the writing depends too much on Gen Z terms. Dating labels and online habits appear often. These references explain modern love, but they do not create strong emotion.
Later, the film moves toward personal change and reunion. Still, the screenplay does not give enough reason for the couple to come back together. Conflicts rise quickly and end just as fast. As a result, the emotional impact stays low. In addition, the film treats modern relationships with judgement. New-age love looks confused, while old ideas feel favored.
The characters also feel limited. Kailash is calm and controlled. Most of his choices work out easily. In contrast, Aazhi is written with exaggerated reactions. This uneven writing affects their chemistry. Because of this, it becomes hard to care about their journey.
On the technical side, the film remains clean. The visuals look pleasant. Editing keeps a steady pace. However, the songs interrupt the flow. Meme-based humor also feels forced at times.
In the end, Pookie has a simple idea but uneven execution. The film wants to speak about modern love. Instead, it settles for surface references. While the intent is clear, the emotional depth is missing. Overall, it works as a mild romantic drama with limited impact, making it a fair watch.
