My Lord follows a working-class couple whose lives collapse after a medical emergency pushes them into a ruthless system. Manipulated records declare them legally dead, stripping them of identity, dignity, and access to justice.
Directed by Raju Murugan, the film centers on Muthusirpi, a matchbox factory worker from Kovilpatti, and his wife Suseela. What begins as a search for financial help soon turns into a larger battle against institutional apathy. Matters worsen when Muthu is identified as a rare kidney match for a powerful Union minister, shifting the story into legal and political territory. As court cases unfold and a journalist begins to question the system, the film quietly exposes how easily ordinary lives can be erased on paper.
Raju Murugan handles the subject with restraint, avoiding sensationalism and opting for measured commentary. The satire works in parts, especially when the film shows how casually power treats people as disposable. However, the screenplay prioritizes plot progression over emotional depth. While the situations remain engaging, the characters are not allowed enough space to evolve. Certain ideas repeat themselves, and a few moments linger longer than needed, which slightly blunts the impact. Even so, the narrative maintains momentum and sustains interest.
Sasikumar delivers a sincere and grounded performance, anchoring the film with quiet conviction. Chaithra Achar brings emotional weight and complements him effectively. Guru Somasundaram and Asha Sharath offer dependable support, strengthening the film’s credibility.
Nirav Shah’s cinematography remains clean and unobtrusive, while Sean Roldan’s understated background score enhances the mood without overpowering the scenes.
Overall, My Lord impresses with its purposeful storytelling and socially aware themes, addressing power dynamics and identity with notable conviction. While a deeper emotional connect could have elevated the experience further, the film succeeds in making its point, leaving viewers engaged, reflective, and open to discussion.
