Dhruv Vikram speaks ahead of Bison Aambothu Telugu debut
As Bison Aambothu gears up for its Telugu release, Dhruv Vikram opens up on nepotism, personal growth, and Mari Selvaraj’s bold, socially rooted storytelling.

Director Mari Selvaraj’s Bison Kaalamaadan, which released on October 17th, continues to run successfully in theatres, garnering widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences. Riding on its Tamil success, the film is now set for a Telugu release under the title Bison Aambothu on October 24th.
As part of the promotional campaign for the Telugu version, lead actor Dhruv Vikram engaged with the media and addressed several questions with refreshing honesty. When asked about nepotism in the industry, Dhruv responded candidly: “It’s true that I’m a star kid and I’ve had access to opportunities. But I’m willing to do whatever it takes for people to accept me, love me, and find a place in Indian cinema. Until then, I’ll continue to work hard.”
Touching upon the socially conscious nature of Mari Selvaraj’s films, Dhruv remarked, “Mari sir makes the kind of cinema he does because of what he has lived through. It’s important to address issues like casteism, especially given the socio-political climate in parts of TN and across India.”
He also spoke about his father, Chiyaan Vikram’s reaction to his performance in the film: “He was proud and surprised. He watches me like he’s watching himself, gives me hundreds of corrections. But on screen, he doesn’t see me as his son.” Reflecting on his early setbacks with Varmaa and Adithya Varma, Dhruv stated, “I want to move past that phase, but I accept and embrace it. That journey helped me grow into who I am today. No regrets.”
Bison Kaalamaadan continues to earn praise for its powerful narrative, with Dhruv Vikram’s intense performance at the centre. Critics have also lauded the supporting cast, compelling visuals, and Mari Selvaraj’s uncompromising direction, marking it as a significant addition to contemporary Tamil cinema.
