Director Ashwath Marimuthu clears misconceptions about Silambarasan’s role, reveals causes of delays, and shares exciting details about the upcoming STR 51's release.

Director Ashwath Marimuthu, known for hits like Oh My Kadavule and Dragon, recently spoke in an award event to address circulating rumours about Silambarasan TR’s involvement in their upcoming project, currently referred to as STR 51.

Ashwath was quick to dismiss claims suggesting that the actor was responsible for delays in the film’s schedule. Praising Silambarasan’s professionalism and readiness, the director clarified that the delays were entirely on his end. “STR sir is always ready whenever I call him. He is disciplined and physically prepared. Any hold-up has been due to my own timing,” he explained.

The director shared that his commitment to the previous film Dragon and personal family responsibilities, including attending to his parents’ health, contributed to the slower pace of work on STR 51. Now, he assured fans that he is fully focused on moving the project forward with renewed energy.

Looking ahead, Ashwath revealed plans for a summer 2026 release and described the film as a blend of high-octane action and romantic storytelling, melding the intensity of Dragon with the charm of Oh My Kadavule. He also hinted that Silambarasan’s role will tap into the kind of charismatic characters the actor has portrayed in past films like Kuthu, Dum, and Manmadhan.

The film is being produced under the banner of AGS Entertainment (AGS 27), STR is set to play the “God of Love,” a role that’s expected to connect well with his fanbase.

Ashwath wrapped up by expressing confidence in the project’s success and excitement about the actor’s involvement. “STR 51 will definitely hit screens next year. It promises to be entertaining, and fans will once again see their favorite hero in action,” he concluded.
