Kamal Haasan confirms long-awaited collaboration with Rajinikanth after 40 years

After decades apart, legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are set to reunite in a film that promises cinematic history.

After decades of speculation, Kamal Haasan has officially confirmed that he and fellow icon Rajinikanth will reunite on-screen for a new project, marking their first film together in over 40 years. The upcoming venture will mark the duo’s first collaboration since the 1979 fantasy film Alavuddinum Arputha Vilakkum, directed by IV Sasi.

Speaking at SIIMA awards ceremony at Dubai, Kamal opened up, “This might come as a surprise to many in the industry,” he said. “But Rajinikanth is a dear friend, and this partnership has been long overdue. Back then, we chose not to work together because we had to split one biscuit between us. Eventually, we demanded one each from the audience. Now, we’re back to share one biscuit again. It’s up to the viewers to decide whether this is a ‘Tharamaana Sambavam’ (a grand event).”

While industry chatter suggests the project may be helmed by director Lokesh Kanagaraj, there has been no official confirmation regarding his involvement yet. Kamal Haasan was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life and currently has several projects in development, including KH237 with action choreographers Anbariv and the highly anticipated Indian 3. Rajinikanth, who last appeared in Coolie, is presently shooting for Jailer 2, directed by Nelson.

Meanwhile, Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his blockbuster action thrillers, is juggling multiple upcoming projects, including Kaithi 2 and an ambitious superhero film with Aamir Khan.
