Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra crosses 100 Crore globally, team celebrates success in Chennai

Team Lokah gathers in Chennai for a grand success meet after film’s historic 100 crore global box office milestone.

The groundbreaking South Indian film Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra has stormed into the record books, crossing 100+ crore at the global box office within just one week of its release. This landmark achievement makes it the first ever female-led South Indian film to reach this milestone, signaling a powerful shift in audience preferences and storytelling in Indian cinema.

To mark this resounding success, the film’s team gathered in Chennai for a grand success meet. Actor Naslen, visibly moved by the response, shared, “I don’t know what to say. Strange things are happening. Suriya sir and Jyothika ma’am called us to congratulate. Truly humbled and grateful for what life has given us.”

Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan echoed the sentiment, expressing gratitude: “I didn’t expect such a fantastic response for Lokah here. Thank you to the media for the support you’ve given us and the film.”

Director Dominic Arun expressed his gratitude, saying it was an honour and thanked Tamil Nadu and the press for their unwavering support of the film.

Aishwarya Kalpathi, Associate Creative Producer at AGS Entertainment – the Tamil Nadu distributor of Lokah, recalled her excitement upon seeing the film’s promos. “Both my sister Archana and I instantly wanted to be part of this. Our vision is to bring content-oriented cinema to audiences everywhere.”

Producer Dulquer Salmaan, known for both acting and producing pan-Indian projects, reflected warmly on the journey: “I haven’t acted in this one. I feel like a teacher who brought her students to a big stage. Tamil Nadu has always shown my films love—dubbed or direct. I had blind faith in the press and media here. What started as an experimental film has received a phenomenal response.”

This success proves that audiences today are content-driven, they don’t differentiate between a hero or heroine-led film. As long as the story is engaging and the content is strong, viewers are ready to support and celebrate cinema that dares to be different.
