Speech Highlights from Coolie Telugu pre-release event: Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Lokesh & Sathyaraj shine
At the Coolie Telugu pre-release event, Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, and Lokesh Kanagaraj delivered powerful speeches, raising expectations for the August 14th release.
The Telugu pre-release event of Coolie turned into a celebration of cinema, star power, and fan excitement. With the film gearing up for a grand worldwide release on August 14th in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, the event saw powerful speeches from the cast and crew.
Superstar Rajinikanth compared director Lokesh Kanagaraj to SS Rajamouli, saying, “All of Lokesh’s films are superhits, just like Rajamouli’s. He’s the Rajamouli of Kollywood.” Speaking about his co-stars, he highlighted Nagarjuna’s role as Simon, saying, “After hearing the story, even I wanted to play Simon. It’s a stylish, fantastic character. After seeing Nagarjuna’s performance, I thought, ‘Should I have done it like that?’ He was terrific.” He also called Nagarjuna a “perfect gentleman” and compared Simon to the iconic Antony character from Baasha.
Sathyaraj added humor and hype, saying, “This will be Tamil cinema’s first ₹1000 crore film.” He shared a moment with Rajini: “I told him he looks the same after 39 years. He replied, ‘Meet Nagarjuna, he looks the same too!’”
Lokesh Kanagaraj addressed fan theories, saying, “Everyone thinks Coolie is sci-fi or time travel… but audiences will be surprised when they see the truth.”
Nagarjuna, who plays Simon, said, “I asked if Rajini sir was on board, because my role was that good. Lokesh gives equal weight to hero and villain.” He also mentioned Kaithi and Vikram as his favorites from Lokesh’s filmography. Also he opened up about the film’s challenging shoot in Bangkok, where the team shot on a ship for 15 days. “After that schedule, Rajini sir gave money to all 350 crew members and asked them to buy something for their families,” he revealed. He also praised Lokesh: “He completed Coolie with ₹5 crore left from what Sun Pictures gave. Meanwhile, we have directors who can’t finish even with five times the budget!”
With its songs and trailer already winning over audiences, Coolie is poised to be a landmark release.
