“24, Singham3 and Kabali will not be screened in theaters that boycotted Theri”

A joint press meet was organized by various film bodies including actor’s union and producer’s council yesterday to clear the air on theaters in Chengalpet boycotting Theri and the alleged video recording of the film by Polimer TV from a not-so-popular Coimbatore screen.

“We don’t have any tiff with exhibitors. People should understand that producers and distributors are not the reason behind this. We will be more than happy to screen the film for everyone. ‘Groupism’ by certain third-parties who control theatres is what hurts the industry. For every big film, there seems to be a issue in Chengalpet territory whereas smooth transactions happen in the rest of Tamil Nadu,” said Kalaipuli S Thanu.

“All producers have agreed to boycott Chengalpet theaters that didn’t screen Theri for their upcoming projects. Particularly, Gnanavelraja of Studio Green has confirmed to us that Singham 3 and 24 will not be screened in Chengalpet theaters that didn’t show Theri. They need to feel the pain of a producer. Then only they will understand it. Kabali will also be not screened in those theaters,” said T. Siva.
