12 Tamil films under competition in Chennai International Film Festival

12 Tamil films have been finalized to compete for the Best Tamil film award at 13th Chennai International film festival, which runs from January 6th to 13th. “36 Vayathiniley, Chennai Ungalai Anbudan Varaverkirathu, Charles Shaffiq Karthiga, Kirumi, Kathirvananin Kodai Mazhai, Maya, Orange Mittai, Oattathoodhuvan-1854, Pisasu, Radiopetti, Thakka Thakka and Thani Oruvan are the Tamil films selected for the festival,” said Thangaraj, festival director.

The festival will also hold a tribute to K Balachander and Aachi Manorama by showcasing seven films of the legends including Achamillai Achamillai,  Agni Satchi, Oru Veedu Iru Vaasal, Unnal Mudiyum Thambi, Sindhu Bhairavi, Major Chandrakanth and Aval Oru Thodar Kathai. 

Director Sebastian Schipper’s German film Victoria, Silver Bear winner at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival, will kickoff the festival as the inaugural film.
