Students organization files petition to ban Vijay’s Kaththi

Murpokku Maanavar Koottani, a confederation of students, has filed a petition seeking ban against Vijay’s Kaththi directed by AR Murugadoss. Earlier, there were reports that Lyca Productions, the producer of the film, has close business ties with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse. AR Murugadoss in an interview later clarified that he and Vijay will never work with anyone who is against Tamils and cited the reports as rumors.

But, the opposition for the film hasn’t subsided yet. A team of students from MMM filed a petition yesterday in Tamil Film Producers’ and Distributors’ councils demanding a ban on the film immediately. “We have voiced our opinion earlier. But, the Kaththi team never heeded to us and went ahead with the film. This has deeply hurt the sentiments of Tamil students and youngsters all over. On behalf of all students, we request you to not release this film under any circumstances,” said the petition. They also threatened for bigger protests in future if this petition is not considered by the council.
