World of Vettuvam: Pa Ranjith unveils a three-timeline world of power and leadership

Pa Ranjith’s Vettuvam unfolds across three timelines, exploring a powerful battle for leadership, survival and authority through an ambitious action-packed world.

The makers of Pa Ranjith’s upcoming film Vettuvam have unveiled the much-awaited World of Vettuvam glimpse, offering a closer look at the film’s unique setting and the central conflict surrounding power, leadership and survival. The film stars Dinesh, Arya, Shabeer and Sobhita Dhulipala in key roles and is scheduled to hit the screens in December 2026.

Described by Pa Ranjith as a blend of action and science fiction, Vettuvam unfolds across three different periods. The glimpse indicates that the events and practices of one era have a direct connection with the others, creating a larger narrative that links the past, present and future. This unusual structure appears to be one of the major attractions of the film.

The World of Vettuvam introduces several groups who are involved in a struggle to establish their authority. Their conflicts are connected to traditional martial arts and combat practices, with the characters appearing to represent different sides of a larger power struggle. The actors involved in these sequences have also undergone training in the respective martial arts forms for their roles.

A major competition during the grand Indra Vizha also forms an important part of the glimpse. The event brings leaders from different groups into direct conflict, with the position of leadership becoming the central prize. While the competition provides the immediate conflict, the footage hints that the consequences could extend far beyond the contest itself, involving questions of power, survival and destruction.

Vettuvam also marks another collaboration between Pa Ranjith and Arya following their successful association in Sarpatta Parambarai. Dinesh, who previously worked with Ranjith in Attakathi, takes on the lead role, while Sobhita Dhulipala returns to Tamil cinema after her appearances in the Ponniyin Selvan films. The ensemble also includes Kalaiyarasan, Mime Gopi, Guru Somasundaram, Shabeer Kallarakkal, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, Harish Uthaman and several others.

The technical team includes GV Prakash Kumar as the music composer, with Santhosh Narayanan Chenthilkumar credited as co-writer and Franklin Jacob handling the dialogues. Roopesh Shaji, Selva RK, SS Murthi and Dhilip Subbarayan are responsible for cinematography, editing, art direction and action choreography respectively. The film is produced by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions in association with Learn & Teach Productions.

With its three-period narrative, martial arts-based conflicts and focus on leadership, World of Vettuvam gives audiences a more detailed introduction to the ambitious universe Pa Ranjith has created. The film is now scheduled for a December 2026 release, with the newly unveiled glimpse further building curiosity around its unusual world and genre.
