Vishal wraps 17-day grand climax shoot for his directorial debut Magudam

Vishal’s directorial debut Magudam completes an intense 17-day climax shoot, featuring a massive 800-member crew, stellar cast, and grand technical scale.

Vishal’s ambitious bilingual (Tamil & Telugu) flick Magudam/Makutam has successfully completed its massive climax schedule, marking a major milestone for the film. Shot over an intense 17 consecutive days from 6PM to 6AM, the sequence is said to be one of the most challenging and monumental undertakings of Vishal’s career,  both as an actor and a first-time director.

The climax block, designed on a scale reminiscent of an epic war sequence, brought together hundreds of stunt performers and a total crew strength of nearly 800 members. From high-end computer graphics teams to top-tier technicians, the extensive setup stands as a testament to the film’s grand vision, emotional weight, and cinematic ambition.

Adding further strength and balance to the film is its ensemble cast. Magudam stars Dushara Vijayan, Anjali, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles, each contributing to the film’s emotional and narrative depth. Their presence enhances the scale of Vishal’s vision, offering a mix of dramatic weight, performance charisma, and timely humor.

The film also marks Vishal’s reunion with renowned cinematographer Richard M Nathan, with whom he previously collaborated on Madha Gaja Raja. Music sensation GV Prakash Kumar, who delivered a smashing album for Mark Antony, handles the score, promising a powerful soundscape to elevate the film’s intensity. The technical team further includes Srikanth NB as editor, production designer G. Durairaj crafting the film’s expansive visual world, and Vasuki Bhaskar overseeing styling to ensure the looks align with the film’s scale and mood.

Action choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan has shaped the climax with staggering realism and high-octane choreography, pushing the action quotient to international standards. According to the team, completing the 17-day schedule felt like a journey of sheer grit, endurance, artistic passion, and unrelenting commitment: qualities that reflect the film’s majestic and emotionally charged spirit.

Produced under the prestigious Super Good Films banner, Magudam now enters post-production. As Vishal’s official directorial debut, the film is positioned as a creative odyssey that blends performance, technical finesse, emotional storytelling, and large-scale film making. Slated for release in 2026, the bilingual epic aims to deliver one of the grandest theatrical experiences of the coming year.
