Vijay Sethupathi joins Vetrimaaran – Silambarasan TR’s Arasan: A major industry development
Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu confirms Vijay Sethupathi’s entry into Vetrimaaran - Silambarasan TR’s Arasan, signalling strong creative synergy and renewed momentum for the long-awaited project.

In an exciting reveal, producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu has officially confirmed that Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi has joined the cast of Arasan, the anticipated collaboration between acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran and Silambarasan TR. The announcement has generated widespread interest, given the creative histories and star power converging on this project.
Vijay Sethupathi’s inclusion is particularly significant. While he previously collaborated with Vetrimaaran in the critically acclaimed Viduthalai Parts 1 and 2, this new association comes with heightened expectations. Vetrimaaran has often mentioned in earlier interviews that Vijay Sethupathi was his initial choice to play the iconic Rajan in Vada Chennai, a role the actor could not take up due to scheduling constraints. His signing for Arasan now suggests the possibility of a richly crafted and pivotal role tailored for his range and screen presence.
The project also marks a reunion between Silambarasan TR and Vijay Sethupathi, who last shared screen space in Maniratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. Their dynamic performances in that film have set the stage for renewed anticipation among fans and industry observers alike.
The announcement also arrives at a key juncture for Arasan, as the project has not yet gone on floors. With the STR – Vels Film International issue still awaiting resolution, the team remains optimistic that an amicable settlement will clear the way for filming to begin soon. Vijay Sethupathi’s inclusion has renewed industry attention, positioning Arasan as one of the most awaited Tamil films set to commence production.
