The Vadandhi Season 2 Press Meet was held ahead of the series’ premiere on Prime Video, with the cast and crew sharing their experiences of working on the much-awaited crime thriller. Starring Sasikumar in the lead, the second season introduces a fresh mystery while retaining the emotional depth that made the first installment a success.
Director Andrew Louis revealed that Vadandhi Season 2 was conceived as a completely standalone story right from the beginning. He explained that although both seasons belong to the same franchise, they feature different narratives and characters. He also shared that he initially narrated only half of the story to Sasikumar, who immediately agreed to be part of the project. According to the filmmaker, Sasikumar’s acceptance helped him build the central police officer’s character before expanding the screenplay further.
Andrew Louis also credited SJ Suryah for the phenomenal success of the first season. Calling himself SJ Suryah’s student, the director thanked the actor for constantly supporting and encouraging him. He also praised music composer Simon, saying the background score played a vital role in elevating the emotions and storytelling throughout the series.
Lead actor Sasikumar revealed that he initially expected to play the character of Mani after hearing the title Vadhandhi Season 2: Mystery of Mani. However, he was pleasantly surprised when Andrew Louis offered him the role of a police officer. The actor said audiences have seen him portray rugged characters over the years, making this his first full-fledged police officer role. He added that the director wanted the character to look like an ordinary police officer from Madurai rather than an exaggerated commercial hero, and he was delighted to bring that vision to life.
Speaking about the series, producers Pushkar and Gayathri appreciated the research that went into recreating the culture and atmosphere of Madurai. Pushkar said that although the first and second seasons tell different stories, they share the same emotional core. Gayathri, meanwhile, described Sasikumar as the perfect choice for the role, saying the actor’s strong association with Madurai made him an ideal fit for the series.
The supporting cast also expressed their excitement during the Vadandhi Season 2 Press Meet. Actress Revathy Sharma thanked director Andrew Louis, producers Pushkar-Gayathri and Sasikumar for trusting her with the opportunity. She expressed confidence in the team’s performances and requested audiences to watch the series and share their feedback.
Actress Anagha said she felt honoured to be part of the second season after the overwhelming response received by Vadhandhi Season 1. She thanked the makers, Prime Video and the entire technical team for their support and expressed hope that audiences would enjoy the new chapter.
Actor Vivek Prasanna praised Andrew Louis’ writing, calling him one of the finest writers he has worked with. He also shared a light-hearted anecdote, revealing that the director usually withholds the final episode’s script until the first day of shooting, keeping even the actors curious about how the story concludes.
Actor Arjun Nandhakumar described the project as a memorable milestone, as it marks both his Tamil film and Tamil web series debut. He thanked the producers, director and the entire team for welcoming him and making the experience special.
Making his acting debut, Yashwanth expressed gratitude to the team for making him feel comfortable throughout the shoot. He also thanked his parents for their constant encouragement and hoped the opportunity would pave the way for a successful career.
Actress Aparna Das said she was delighted to reunite with audiences after the success of Dada. Although she plays a brief role as the wife of Sasikumar’s character, Moosarasa, she described it as a memorable experience. Aparna also revealed that she has admired Sasikumar ever since watching Subramaniapuram and was thrilled to finally share screen space with him.
The Vadandhi Season 2 Press Meet concluded on an optimistic note, with the entire team expressing confidence in the series. With a fresh mystery, a new set of characters and Sasikumar leading the investigation, Vadhandhi Season 2 is all set to stream on Prime Video from August 7.
