Uttama Villain Movie Preview

Watching Kamal Haasan perform on screen is an unparalleled experience in Indian cinema. If there’s an actor who commands immense respect for his manifold intelligence in his profession, it is Kamal. It’s been more than two years since we witnessed Ulaganayagan on screen in Vishwaroopam. His upcoming film Uttama Villain, which promises to satiate the hunger of avid film buffs, is all set to see the light of day on May 1st worldwide.

There are a variety of reasons to anticipate the release of Uttama Villain apart from the one-man phenomenon called Kamal Haasan. The film’s screenplay and dialogues are written by Kamal. And if the lyrics of the songs are anything to go by, we are in for an absolute treat from Kamal Haasan, the writer. Sample this: எவரும் எந்தப் பொருளும் தெய்வமானால், கும்பிட்ட கூட்டம் போடும் குப்பை கூட சொர்கம் சேரும், அகில உலகுமழியும், அழியும். (from the song Iraniyan Naadagam).

On one hand, there’s a 21st century tale of a reigning superstar and on the other hand there’s an 8th century tale of a folk artist. Real world has greed and other negative aspects but the folk world is pure and idealistic. What connects these two worlds is the point that meets the brilliance of Kamal Haasan’s screenplay,” said Ramesh Aravind.

The above quote ticks another check box. Yes, the grand visuals of Shaam Dutt (the cinemtographer) assures a powerhouse performance from Kamal Haasan, especially in the eighth century portions. While the 20th century part is a social drama, the eighth century portion is a musical comedy where the fans will enjoy the real antics of Kamal Haasan.

The film boasts an all-star, talented cast that includes Parvathi Menon, Nassar, Andrea, Pooja Kumar, Jayaram, Oorvasi, Parvathi Nair, K Vishwanath and K Balachander to name a few.

Five Highlights in the film that you can watch out for:

1. “Kamal sir and KB sir’s clash in the film will be one of the best scenes in Tamil screen,” said Ramesh Aravind

2. There’s a particular scene between Parvathi Menon and Kamal Haasan where the former has performed on par with Kamal. It is also said to be the highlight of the film.

3. Ramesh Aravind has promised that the ten minute climax will be a spellbinding experience for movie-goers with Kamal Haasan’s sterling performance.

4. The film has a lot of emotional content and a profound message in the story-line.

5. There are different relationships in the film and they have already received appreciation from the censor board for its dignified portrayal.

Ghibran’s album is hailed by music buffs as a masterpiece and his background score is eagerly awaited. It marks his first big budget film on screen and could also be his first veritable breakthrough in the industry as well.
